Does hypnobirthing actually work?

Yes.

However, there’s hypnobirthing and there’s hypnobirthing. Not all programs are created equal.

So why do I teach the Hypnobirthing Australia™ program?

Right at the start of any hypnobirthing class I teach, I start by saying this:

This is not a course that will tell you how you should give birth. This is not a course about natural birthing at all costs. This is not a course that tells you that if you do steps 1, 2, 3, exactly like this then you will achieve this particular birth.

Promising a particular birth sets you up to fail, and the last thing I want is you to feel like you’ve failed. If this was that type of course I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t teach it.

We can’t control everything when it comes to birth. We can’t.

What this course is about, is positive birth. It’s about keeping you in the driver's seat so that no matter what happens you have the knowledge and the tools to make the best decisions you can with the circumstances you have. This course is about positive birthing no matter what.

Birth is a normal, natural physiological process of the body and we will learn ALL about that. Sometimes there are special circumstances and if that happens you are not a failure. You will learn how to stay in the driver’s seat, how you can make the best decisions you can - the decisions that are right for you. So that when you’re holding your baby, you can say:

“I did it. I had the best birth possible and I gave my baby the best birth possible.”

So much of birthing is about instinct. It’s about feeling the sensations within your body as it works to bring your baby into the world. It’s about knowing what feels right and what doesn’t. It’s about listening to what your body is telling you.

Lean forward.

Change your position.

More movement.

Rest.

I need some support here.

Breathe.

Move your leg this way.

I need some guidance.

Rock.

Sway.

Breathe.

It’s about recognising that your body knows how to do this dance. It’s ancient and instinctive.

It’s also about trusting your body, deeply listening to it and recognising when the sensations are telling you that your body is working hard (vast majority of the time) and sometimes, when the sensations are telling you that something is perhaps not quite right and you might need some assistance.

It’s about having a multitude of proven, evidence-based tools and techniques that you can use or not use in the ways that feel right for you - not in any prescribed way, allowing you to follow the lead of your body and your own birthing wisdom.

It’s about trusting your instincts, and the knowledge and preparation you have done to be able to make the right decisions for you, every step of the way.

There is no one right way to birth, the right way to birth is the way that is right for you.

Your birth, your way.

This is the difference between Hypnobirthing Australia™’s Positive Birth Program and other programs. It’s what makes it so special.

I have personally used this program to birth my two kids. Two births. Two different births. Neither went exactly as I imagined. Both incredibly positive experiences. I gained so much knowledge, my partner built so much confidence in how to support and advocate for me, we learnt tools to keep me calm and relaxed, how to ask questions and release fears.

I want everyone to have an amazing experience. Everyone deserves a positive experience.

The rates of birth trauma are high. 1 in 3. Way too high. Positive birthing can change this.

You deserve better. You deserve to birth empowered and honoured.

Hypnobirthing can equip you with everything you need for a calm, empowered birth no matter how your baby makes their way into the world.
